1-4pm “Caregivers Conversation” with two BC experts: Author Janet Dunn and Dementia Consultant Karen Tyrell. Come join us for a Caregiving Conversation. Many of us, both men and women, have been caregivers, will become caregivers or already are caregivers for spouses, parents, family members or friends. Learn tips for self-care along the journey with these 2 passionate advocates for caregivers, and feel supported while we share our own personal experiences or just listen in.  NOT TO BE MISSED!!

Janet will be sharing with us her remarkable journey of being a caregiver for 10 years, along with her twin sister, for both of their parents. Her new book tells the whole difficult but loving story and it’s very touching (I’ve read it). Janet’s book is called “The Dwindling: A Daughter’s Caregiving Journey to the Edge of Lifewww.journeyspress.ca.

Karen will be sharing tips for caregivers to take care of themselves while they are taking care of others, as well as providing information on community resources. Karen has authored 2 books: “Cracking the Dementia Code- Creative Solutions to Cope with Changed Behaviours” and “Home Life Memories – A Therapeutic Colouring & Activity Book for Older Adultswww.dementiasolutions.ca.

Janet is travelling to Maillardville especially for us, all the way from Qualicum Beach (Vancouver Island), so I hope that many of you will come out for this special afternoon – EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT A CAREGIVER – BECAUSE BOTH LADIES ARE FABULOUS SPEAKERS WITH VERY BIG HEARTS. 😊

20       Movie Night:  7pm   “Beauty & The Beast”. Popcorn, snacks, soft drinks served (donations gratefully accepted 😊).

Description: Disney’s classic tale has live actors this time, in a musical, with a widened mythology and an all-star cast. A young prince, imprisoned in the form of a beast, can be freed only by true love. What may be his only opportunity arrives when he meets Belle, the only human girl to ever visit the castle since it was enchanted.

28     Autobiography Club: 10:30am Come and join the group, discover our fun and varied approach to recording your story!  We each write a little story, funny or sad, from some event in our life, and we read them to the group. Just come to listen for the first few times if you don’t feel like writing something beforehand. Coffee, Kleenex and lots of laughs provided free of charge!
